Slow News Day – Links Ahoy!
There’s nothing really screaming at me from the gaming news world today. Therefore you get linkage! Lucky you! Guaranteed smiles follow.
Please tell me you already follow Destructoid’s “Hey Ash, Whatcha’ Playin’?”! These are the stories of Ashly Burch and her brother Anthony, two siblings with quite the love/hate relationship. The dynamic duo make short comedy sketches based on popular games and they are freakin’ hysterical! Don’t believe me? Start with one of the most recent ones for Team Fortress 2 and go back from there. Warning, some vids (but not this one) are NSFW and contain spoilers for games (again not this one).
Then there’s “The Legend of Neil”. This one is TOTALLY NSFW so click with care. If you’re a Legend of Zelda fan, you MUST watch this show. It’s about a gamer named Neil who, after a night of heavy drinking, finds himself sucked into the Legend of Zelda universe. Laugh out loud funny. Be sure to start at Episode 1! Bonus for Whedonites: Felicia Day as The Fairy!
Alas, embedding is not allowed, so you’ll have to visit their site: The Legend of Neil
And lastly, if you liked The Legend of Neil, you’ll love Felicia Day’s other project “The Guild”. You’ve probably already heard of or seen this, but in case you haven’t… you need to. The Guild is an internet show featuring short (~4 min) episodes following the real lives of the fictional players in a non-specific World of Warcraft type MMORPG. Whew! With me so far? Good. The show is clever, original, and always brings a smile to my face. I’ll start you off with Episode 1, but be sure to watch the whole season:
That’s it for today kids. If you have a favourite video game themed webseries, that I haven’t mentioned, let me know about it! Send me an e-mail or give a shout in Teh Forums.
Oh, and also: Happy International Talk Like a Pirate Day te ye! Yar!

Capcom has become more inclusive in their latest title by adding the first female Mega Man boss: Splash Woman. Could it be they are also trying to represent the gay community?
Now, I’m not trying to start mass hysteria here (ala Tinky Winky). This is simply my perspective on the matter. I might not be the first person to make the connection, but I have to talk about it somewhere and as I’ve said before, this is my soapbox.
Have you seen the images of Plug Man? If not, allow me to help:

The evidence:
- His name is Plug Man
- His outfit is pink
- He has a triangle on his chest
- When you defeat him, you get the ability Plug Ball as demonstrated above
As I mentioned previously, this is just one man’s observation. I’m not sure if it is or not, but if the homosexual insinuation is intentional, then good on Capcom. Way to be more inclusive! Anybody who wants to discuss this (civilly) is hereby invited to Teh Forums.

I can’t describe how excited I am to play this game. When you think FPS, the running/climbing sport Parkour might not be the first thing to come to mind. That being said, EA has developed a game that blends those two elements.
Taking place in the future, Mirror’s Edge features a Runner (information courier) named Faith. With an amazing amount of stamina and agility, Faith can run around the city, leaping from rooftop to rooftop rushing to avoid danger. She doesn’t get any weapons to start but she has some advanced hand to hand combat skills. The heavily armed troops pursuing her carry guns but are quickly (and brilliantly) disarmed – their weapons becoming hers. Keep in mind, though, that Faith isn’t trained in firearm use so sometimes weapons are more of a hinderance than a blessing. Her aim may be off and simply carrying a gun will weigh her down, affecting her ability to run and jump slightly. Don’t worry, she can drop your guns at any time for more speed. Developers took Faith’s lack of weapon based experience into consideration and made it possible to beat the entire game without firing a single bullet. There will even be a special achievement for doing so.
A North American release date of November 11th (November 14th for Europe) has been confirmed by EA. This game will be mine as soon as it is available. Anybody else interested in getting it? Hit TehForums and let’s discuss shall we?

Apparently Peter Molyneux, producer of Fable 2, might have included the cheat/glitch in Tower of Fortune on purpose. According to a preview for the game at IGN: “Molyneux has said that the cheat was no accident and that those who used it to earn their money will be in for a surprise.”
No word yet on what the “surprise” will be. Anybody feeling a bit nervous now? I’m not because despite my Darth name, I’m actually a pretty good Jedi.

So far, it’s just a rumour, but it looks as if Google has its sights set on Valve. Good or bad? Hard to say. I just hope we never see something like this:
